The University of Adelaide is one of Australia's leading research universities. Founded in 1874, it is the third oldest university in the country and is known for its high level of academic training, research and innovation.
The University was founded with the aim of providing quality education accessible to all, regardless of social or economic background. Sir Richard Davenport became the first Chancellor of the University of Adelaide. Since its foundation, the university has steadily developed and today is part of the prestigious Group of Eight, which unites Australia's leading research universities.
The University of Adelaide has several campuses:
- North Terrace is the main and largest campus located in the centre of Adelaide. The main scientific and educational buildings are located here, and the campus is known for its historical architecture.
- Roseworthy – Located north of Adelaide, the campus specializes in agronomy and veterinary medicine.
- Waite – This campus houses faculties dealing with agricultural and biological sciences.
- The Thebarton Science Park is a concentration of scientific laboratories and centers that promote the commercialization of scientific research.
